Chingay is part Chinese New Year celebrations, part Samba or Mardi Gras, and part street party. Chingay has grown to be the largest such celebration in all of Southeast Asia.




The word Chingay is from the Hokkien dialect of Mandarin meaning "the art of masquerade".
